Reissue an SSL Certificate Managed by You

Learn how to reissue an SSL certificate managed by you.

An SSL certificate that has already been configured can be reissued with just a few clicks. This option may be useful in the following cases:

  • The information contained in the SSL certificate must be changed or the encryption is SHA1 and not SHA2 (which is the latest type).
  • You have lost the private key.
  • The SSL certificate has been compromised.

Please note:
After reissuing the SSL certificate, you must revoke the old certificate.

The SSL Starter certificates that are included with all 1&1 products can be reissued at any time without any limitations. GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium (SSL Starter), GeoTrust QuickSSL Wildcard (SSL Starter Plus), and GeoTrust True BusinessID (SSL Business) certificates can be reissued up to 6 times per year.
Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Click the Manage SSL Certificates link from the Domains panel.

Check the box next to the domain in question and then select Reissue Certificate from the Actions drop-down menu. You will be allowed to reissue an SSL certificate up to 6 times. SSL Certificates menu

Click Reissue Certificate.

A confirmation screen will appear informing you the process is successfully underway. Confirmation message

Once the the SSL certificate has been reissued you will need to revoke the old certificate, download the new SSL certificate to your computer, and then install the certificate on the server you want to use.
